President's Message

Hi Sprague Community,

SO much happening this month... Book Fair, Fun Run, Wellesley Turkey Trot, Fundraising Events... it's all highlighted below, with more details on our website.

Share your Feedback

We've heard that some parents can't join PTO meetings due to their work schedules. As working moms, we get it! And we promise, we don't want anyone to be left out of the fun. We want to remind you that our PTO meeting schedule is available online and you can click "add to calendar" to block the time. We also offer Google Meet to accommodate those who can't meet on-site. If joining virtually isn't an option and you would like to get more involved, let us know via email or phone (you can find us both in the directory); we'd love to find a solution that works for you.

With that, please keep the feedback coming—what do you want the PTO to keep doing, change, or add? Drop us a line and share your thoughts.

📚Don’t Miss Sprague Book Fair: November 18-22!📚

Each class will visit Book Fair during the week–you can see when your child’s class visits here. On the day of Book Fair, please send your child with cash in an envelope with their name on it. Need financial support? Reach out to Karalyn Kickham, Sprague School Social Worker, at kickhamk@wellesleyps.org.

You’re welcome to shop with your child’s class (this can be especially helpful for the younger grade levels) or come to the before-school shopping event on Wednesday, November 20 from 7:30am - 8:30am. You can check out Book Fair FAQ and sign up to volunteer and email bookfair@spragueschoolpto.com with any questions.

Spelling Bee
35th Annual WEF Spelling Bee

Come cheer on our Sprague team - Jordan Basinsky, Jenny Lee and John Wells - at this year's WEF Spelling Bee! This year's bee will be held on Wednesday, November 13, at 7 p.m. in the WHS cafeteria. Support this great WEF community fundraising event that raises money to fund enrichment programs for the Wellesley Public Schools 🐝

Fun Run
Toy Drive (November 25-27) & Fun Run (November 27)

Grab your sneakers and join the Sprague community for the second Fun Run/Walk on Wednesday, November 27th. This year, students in each grade will have the chance to walk or run with “pace groups'' led by parent volunteers. Get excited for this opportunity to enrich our community by coming together through exercise and some Sprague spirit!

And, since the winter holiday season is a critical time to enrich our broader New England community, students are invited to participate in a toy drive that week to support Kids Backing Kids. Donations will be collected curbside at carline during drop-off from Monday, November 25th through Wednesday, November 27th, or you can bring your donation to the bin inside the main entrance. Our goal is to collect 150 toys for Kids Backing Kids!

Guidelines for toy donations:

  • Toys must be new

  • In the original packaging

  • Gifts can be small ($5), medium ($10-$15), or bigger ($20+)

Sign up to volunteer

Parent volunteers are essential to the success of this event, and we are especially in need of volunteers in the early morning next week. If you have any questions about the event, please contact Lauren Grignaffini-Morris (social.events@spragueschoolpto.com) and Kathy Newbury (kjnewb@gmail.com).
