Presidents' Message

Hi Sprague Community,

What a week! We absolutely loved celebrating Sprague's 100th anniversary with so many of you on Friday! The kids, teachers and staff, and our PTO team did such an amazing job! As we head into the last school week of the year, here are three things to know:

  1. The Painting Place🖌️🎨 is offering its last early release day class of the year. Drop your kids after school on Wednesday for 15% back to Sprague PTO. Sign up in advance online and be sure to check the Sprague box at checkout.
  2. This Thursday, the 5th grade chorus and the Sprague band and orchestra will perform their annual winter concert at 9 a.m. in the gym. All are welcome!
  3. The Sprague Spirit Wear shop is open and accepting orders — this is the best way to get your kids' Sprague gear in time for the upcoming holidays!

**Reminder: Winter break begins 12/23/24 through 1/1/25
School will resume on Thursday, January 2nd.

The next PTO Newsletter will be sent on Sunday 1/5/25.

Have a wonderful holiday break and Happy New Year!

Last Friday and on Monday this week, second graders met a well-known concert pianist, Asiya Korepanova, and listened to her spectacular classical music pieces live. She performed pieces from famous composers including Bach, Chopin and Rachmaninoff, and discussed the styles and origins of the pieces that she played. Second graders were asked to draw and color about what or how the music make them think or feel while they were listening to those amazing pieces. Ask your second grader:

  • “What was it like to see a live classical music performance”
  • “How they felt while they were listening to these classical music pieces”
  • “What they drew/colored during the performance”

This past Thursday, third graders welcomed The Concord Museum to Sprague for a hands-on discussion about what life was like for people in the colonies. They had a chance to explore what a typical town like Wellesley would have been like as well as the common possessions and clothing worn during the colonial time.

Check out photos of these great events on the CAS page.

Upcoming Meeting: Wellesley Special Education Parent Advisory Council

The next SEPAC meeting will be held on Friday, January 10th, from 9-10 a.m. in the Sprague library. The Wellesley Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is made up of parents and caregivers whose children receive special education services (IEPs) or accommodations (504 plans). The SEPAC fosters community and provides support for families of children with disabilities and plays a role advising the district on matters relating to special education programs. For more information, please visit: https://sites.google.com/site/pacwellesley/.

If you'd like to receive occasional communications from our Sprague SEPAC rep with updates from the SEPAC as well as hear about opportunities to connect with other families, please complete this opt-in form

PSA from the School Committee

The School Committee greatly appreciates letters from the community. When getting in touch, we ask that individuals use the School_Committee@wellesleyps.org address, rather than attempting to use individual email addresses.

The main email address includes not just the five elected Committee members, but also the Superintendent, our Boston parent Committee representatives, as well as administrative assistants who help track and respond to incoming correspondence. Emailing School_Committee@wellesleyps.org allows for a more cohesive approach to your comments & questions.

NEW Sprague Spirit Wear Store

Spikey got a glow-up AND we've launched a brand-new store on our website. We offer two free options to get your gear: pick-up at Sprague or send-home-with-kid.
