President's Message

Hi Sprague Community,

Please join us in extending gratitude to Book Fair organizers Liz Cheron and Hadley Stephens for their countless hours of work to bring in a new vendor and host this five-day event. Thank you to the dozens of volunteers who came in for set-up, sales, and breakdown — we really appreciate your hard work. And last but not least, thank you to everyone who shopped — we hope you enjoyed being a part of this special fundraising event.

And now... a short, but fun-filled week awaits us — toy drive, fun run/walk/ Turkey Trot, and even a fundraiser! Read details below and check out the Sprague website for even more!

For those celebrating Thanksgiving, we wish all of you a joyful, safe holiday with your loved ones. We're grateful for all of you.

Tomorrow through Wednesday we'll be collecting donations for Kids Backing Kids curbside at carline during drop-off or at the bin inside the main entrance. Let's meet our goal of collecting 150 toys for this great program!

Guidelines for toy donations:

  • Toys must be new

  • In the original packaging

  • Gifts can be small ($5), medium ($10-$15), or bigger ($20+)

👟Second Annual Fun Run!👟

Wednesday, November 27th, dress in your neon leg warmers, parachute pants and shoulder pads for our 80s themed Fun Run! Visit our News & Events page for more info and to see when your child will be running.

You can help us collect toys at drop-off and support our children in the Fun Run. Check out the Sign-Up Genius for times that are still available. For questions about the event or volunteering, please contact Lauren Grignaffini-Morris or Kathy Newberry.

Turkey Trot
Join the Sprague Turkey Trot Team

It's not too late to join the Sprague Elementary School team for this year's Wellesley Turkey Trot and help us win the Largest School Team award (we took home the $200 prize in 2022 and 2023 - let's do it again!). Kids participating in either the Fun Run or 5K get a special footie!

See you Thursday morning at our table in the Linden parking lot near M&T Bank for goodies and a photo with Spikey! The 5K starts at 8 a.m. followed by the kids 10-and-under Fun Run at 8:45 a.m. Gobble, gobble! 🦃

5th Grade Glow Party!

On Friday, December 6, the Sprague School Gym will get a glow up ✨ 5th graders are invited to attend the 5th Grade Glow Party from 7-8:30 p.m. with a live DJ, games and snacks!

Reach out to the 5th Grade Committee with questions!

Creative Arts & Sciences (CAS)

LAST WEEK:

This past Friday, the 3rd graders met WCVB Channel 5’s on-air meteorologist David Williams for a lively weather presentation. The students learned that meteorologists launch a weather balloon 20 miles up twice a day to forecast the weather. The tool attached to the balloon (radiosonde) is used to measure the humidity, pressure and air temperature. The students also learned about typical New England winter weather as well as severe weather including hurricanes and tornadoes. Fun fact: The USA sees more tornadoes than any other country, and Texas is the state where they occur the most frequently.
