SPRAGUE PULSE
WEEK OF JANUARY 29, 2024
Letter from the Co-Presidents

Hello Spraguewell!

Although the weather changes every day (and sometimes, a few times within the day!), the days are getting longer as we inch toward Spring. 🌸

With that, we have many exciting Spring events planned - and looking for volunteers to make them amazing!

  • Spring Auction Planning Kick off Coffee on Tuesday, January 30 at 8:45 am. Details below!
  • We need a second Wellesley Wonderful Weekend Parade Co-Chair, joining Kindergarten parent Alejandra Tejada to lead Sprague's participation in this fun annual event. Email us to volunteer - it's a light lift, but guaranteed to bring a lot of joy to our community!
  • Next month, we'll bid farewell to our Hunnewell friends, whose last day at Sprague is Friday, February 16. Email us if you are interested in helping to plan a Clap-Out to celebrate their time at Sprague and send them on their way to their beautiful new building!

Best, Rose & Wendy

RECENT CAS EVENTS

GRADE: 4TH

EVENT: Discovery Museum

The Discovery Museum of Acton, MA visited the 4th Grade students this week for a hands-on workshop about Sound Waves.  Students actively engaged in exploring the source of sound and created unique sound makers with household materials.

Ask your 4th grader the following questions about their experience:

  • What exactly is sound and how is it created?  (Sound is energy created by vibrations)
  • Can you think of a place where there is no sound?  Why isn't there sound there?
  • How can you move a ball with a tuning fork without actually touching it?
  • Is sound fastest through a solid, liquid or gas?  (The answer is solid)
  • Do sound waves look like ocean waves?  How would you describe them?

WELLESLEY GIRLS LACROSSE
WGS GREEN TIP OF THE MONTH

Have the holidays left you bursting at the seams with more "stuff' than you need?  With the RDF Take It Or Leave It closed for the season, it can be hard to find a home for items you no longer need but are too good to send a landfill.

Consider posting items on Wellesley Facebook sites Buy Nothing Wellesley and Wellesley Give & Take or Greater Boston Suburbs Give & Take which encompasses nearby suburbs.

The State of MA also has a list of organizations that will take furniture, building materials, and much more. Some will even pick up! Thank you for making the effort divert items from the landfill!
