SPRAGUE PULSE
WEEK OF JANUARY 15, 2024
Letter from the Co-Presidents

Hello Spraguewell!

Looks like a chilly week ahead of us - don't forget to pack extra warm, labeled clothes for your kiddos to make sure they don't miss outdoor recess time. We all know how kids like to shed hats, coats, and gloves... "It's NOT cold!" Yeah, sure.Mabel's Labels will help ensure their clothing gets returned to them. Abandoned items are regularly donated.

Our next PTO meeting is Wednesday, January 17th in the library. ALL parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend. As always, Google Meet is available to anyone who can't join in person. Learn more or add to your Google Calendar.

Our Scrubadub fundraiserends on January 18th - purchase an Express Wash for $10 and 50% of the proceeds will benefit the PTO. There is no expiration date to use the coupons.

Looking WAY out - Red Sox Night is Saturday, June 1st at 4:10 pm vs the Detroit Tigers. Check your kid's take-home folders for the order form, or purchase tickets on our website by January 26th.

Best, Rose & Wendy

SPRING AUCTION HELP NEEDED

Save the Date! The Sprague Spring Auction will be held at the Charles River Country Club on May 17, 2024

We are planning a super fun social event for our community while also raising much-needed funds for the PTO. We can't do this on our own and would love some helpers! There are many ways to lend a hand and get involved:

  • Request Donations from local businesses (we need many people for this)

  • Donate Goods/Services: Do you have season tickets to a local sports team? A vacation house that you would be willing to offer? If you don't, do you know someone who does? We could use it!

  • Grade Level Parents to coordinate baskets to be raffled

  • Coordinate Sign up Parties (think Ping Pong Party, Bingo Night but if you have a better idea, we are all ears!)

  • Designer - Can you help us design the invitation? Can you help us with the signage for the event?

  • Run the games at the event (in shifts, we want you to still have a great night!)

  • Day of Set Up

  • Day of Cleanup (TBD)

Email with any questions, or to volunteer.

Thank you,

Bryanne Tartamella (Mom to Josie-3JL and Jack-6th @ WMS)

WGS GREEN TIP OF THE MONTH

Have the holidays left you bursting at the seams with more "stuff' than you need?  With the RDF Take It Or Leave It closed for the season, it can be hard to find a home for items you no longer need but are too good to send a landfill.  Consider posting items on Wellesley Facebook sites Buy Nothing Wellesley and Wellesley Give & Take or Greater Boston Suburbs Give & Take which encompasses nearby suburbs.  The State of MA also has a https://www.mass.gov/lists/donation-reuse list of organizations that will take furniture, building materials, and much more and some will even pick up! Thank you for making the effort divert items from the landfill!

WELLESLEY GIRL SCOUTS

Is your child interested in learning more about Girl Scouts?  As the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, Girl Scouts helps build girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character who make the world a better place.

Kindergartners, First Graders, and their families are invited to attend any of the upcoming informational "Try Girl Scouts" events in Wellesley:

1/16, 5pm at Bates - Robot Building Party

1/18, 4pm at Fiske - Robot Building Party

1/30, 5pm at Bates - Trolls Party

2/1, 4pm at Fiske - Trolls Party

(Children from all schools in Wellesley are invited to attend these events.)

Please RSVP here: https://www.gsema.org/en/get-involved/event-rsvp-region-3.html

Girl Scouts is a volunteer-led organization where adults volunteer their time to create a cooperative learning experience for girls with hands-on, girl-led activities.  We are currently forming new Troops in Wellesley and are looking for a few adult volunteers.  Check out our Ways to Volunteer page for more information.
