SPRAGUE PULSE
WEEK OF NOVEMBER 13, 2023
Letter from the Co-Presidents

Hello Spraguewell,

We hope everyone had a lovely long weekend and enjoying the fall weather. Let's hope it lasts a bit longer!

In the spirit of the holiday season, we are very proud of two initiatives that give back to our community:

  • Our 5th Grade team's Cradles to Crayons donation bin will be picked up on the 16th, so you still have time to bring in your new or gently used clothing for children in need. Details follow below.
  • We're thrilled that many of you have already answered the call for volunteers to run our first-ever Fun Run! This event combines community giving with exercise in the fresh air - what could be better?! If you have not yet signed up for the event, you can do so below. We are excited to see you there.

Best,

Rose & Wendy

WHAT'S HAPPENING
Spraguewell Fun Run & Walk

WHAT: Spraguewell Fun Run/Walk

WHEN: Wednesday, November 22

  • 8:30am - Kindergarten/1st/2nd/5th Graders
  • 10:15am - 3rd & 4th Graders

Students in each grade will have the chance to walk or run a course on the turf field with “pace groups'' led by parent volunteers. Get excited for this opportunity to enrich our community by coming together through exercise with some Spraguewell spirit!

The winter holiday season is a critical time to enrich our broader Wellesley community and students are invited to participate in a food drive that same week to support the Wellesley Food Pantry.

Donations will be collected curbside during drop-off on Monday, November 20 through Wednesday, November 22, or you can bring your donation to the bin in the alcove near the main entrance.

Storage at the food pantry is limited so we ask that donations adhere to these immediate needs that they have identified:

  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Tomato Paste or Canned Tuna
  • 2nd Grade & 3rd Grade: Canned Pineapple in Fruit Juice or Canned Tuna
  • 4th Grade & 5th Grade: Canned Tomatoes (all types) or Baked or Refried Beans

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Liz Cheron

Parent volunteers are essential to the success of this event, and there’s lots of ways to be involved–whether you’re a runner, walker or general helper, and even if you can’t be present for the event itself.

Sign up to be a volunteer!

SPELLING BEE THANKS

Well done students! Special thanks to our Sprague parent team - Allie Baker, Jenny Lee, and John Wells - for their spelling skills and Sprague spirit!

FINAL COLLECTION DAY - THIS THURSDAY

You may continue to drop off donations of new or gently used children's clothing at the front entrance from now until November 16th

MABEL’S LABELS FUNDRAISER

Sprague is fundraising with Mabel’s Labels!

If you’re not familiar with Mabel’s Labels, they are personalized, durable, waterproof labels. They are great for everything from shoes, clothing tags, water bottles and backpacks. You can customize them with your name and a design, and they are dishwasher, laundry and microwave safe.

Mabel’s Labels also offers clothing stamps, silicone bands for water bottles and medical alert labels. This is a great way to ensure your items don’t end up in the Lost & Found or mixed up. To reduce the spread of germs, we highly recommend labelling but they are also useful for everyday life.

To support our fundraiser, you may select any label or product you'd like, and it will ship for free directly to your house! Thank you for supporting us!
