"Thank you" isn't enough to our Book Fair Chair, Sneha Patel, who ran another successful and very fun Book Fair, and to Lix Perriello for generously sharing the library with us for the week.  


It was great to see the kids shopping the event and displaying Sprague's HEART values in many ways: sharing book recommendations with one another, deploying amazing math skills to help others figure out how much they had left to spend, and exhibiting sweet manners to the parent volunteers. We can't wait to do it again!


No Tricks... Fall Fest is THIS Friday the 13th! Why not TREAT yourself? 

Pre-purchase tickets for food, drinks, and activities, so you skip the line and head straight into the party. And yes, costumes are not only welcome, but encouraged! More details are below.

FALL FEST - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13

Fall Fest 2023 is almost here! Enjoy fall-themed goodies, play games, and enjoy Hocus Pocus on the big screen after the sun sets. 


DATE: Friday, October 13th (spooky!)

TIME: 5:00 - 8:00pm 

  • Hocus Pocus will start around 6:15pm
  • We will have cider donuts, apple cider, pizza, soft drinks, steak and cheese, hamburgers, hot dogs. Candy will be available right before the movie begins!
  • The movie is free to all attendees (and so is popcorn)!
  • Three Cheers to the 5th Grade for adding three new exciting "Cs" to the event - Cake Walk, Cotton Candy, and Costume tag sale!


TICKETS: Tickets will be used in place of cash at the tables to pay for food, treats and activities. Tickets will be sold near the entrance.

Thank you to those who helped caring for the garden during summer months! We had a successful season, thanks to you!   Now the growing season is over at Sprague vegetable garden, and we are ready to winterize it. So we need lots of hands to tackle them all!  We hope to see you in the garden!

ONE MORE RAFFLE: SPRAGUE SCHOOL PTO DONATION ANNUAL APPEAL

We are excited to launch ANOTHER raffle! Donations made to the Annual Appeal during October are eligible for a raffle drawing for one of two awesome prizes to get your coffee fix (hint, hint)! 

Why should you donate? Sprague PTO organizes and pays for multiple programs and events, including:

  • Creative Arts & Sciences
  • Field Trip Entrance Fees & Bus Transportation
  • Teacher & Principal Support
  • School Yearbooks
  • Digital Family Directory
  • Curriculum Support
  • Community Support
  • Library Books

This year, we plan to spend approximately $130 per student to operate programs, including teacher classroom support. Funding from our budget comes from PTO donations and fundraisers. Suggested donation: $100/student.

Fifth Grade Parents and Caregivers, 

Help make this their Best. Year. Ever. Activities include a TreeTop Adventures Field Trip, DJ Mike Dance Party, Day of Play, Family Picnic, Graduation Events and Activities, t-shirts, and more. The cost of 5th grade activities is approximately $150 per child and is covered by parent donations and fundraisers.

Interested in occasionally volunteering at Sprague PTO events? Sign the All Hands On Deck volunteer list.

You'll receive emails when volunteer opportunities arise (i.e., shifts at the Fall Fest, set up a teacher appreciation lunch, hand out popsicles at playdates, pick up groceries or a gift card to meet a Give From the Heart request, etc...).

You know the scariest part of Halloween? Buying a new costume when there are so many hiding in the back of our closets that have only been worn for a few hours!!! Bring Dorothy, Harry Potter and those Ninja Turtles back to life!!! You’ll feel good that your closet is cleaner and Mother Nature will thank you for cutting down on waste! Consider donating using the Facebook groups Wellesley Give and Take and/or Buy Nothing Wellesley, MA (must be Wellesley Resident).  You can even post an "In Search Of" (ISO) if you are looking for a specific costume.  Other options are: RDF Take-It-Or-Leave-It rack, the Schofield Shoppers Corner (open Wed. 8:30-noon) or the Sprague PTO Costume Sale (drop box at 9 Avon Rd) .  Don't wait to donate!!! BOSTON COLLEGE YOUTH SOCCER CLINIC

Boston College Youth Soccer Clinic

Sunday, October 15, from 2-5 PM


The event will feature three notable BC athletes — Christian Bejar, CJ Williams, and Erick Almendares — who will lead a skills training session and team play, concluding with a panel to speak with the players about student-athlete life at the Division I level. This event will take place at Downes Grass Field located at 24 Highland Rd, Brookline, MA 02445. 


This is an incredible opportunity - now for girls & boys - who will not only develop as athletes but learn about the collegiate athlete experience. Spots are limited, and we would greatly appreciate you passing this along to your young athletes and their families.

WELLESLEY YOUTH HOCKEY LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM

Wellesley Youth Hockey is proud to offer our Learn to Play Hockey (LTP) and Pre-Mite Development (PMD) program as part of a multi-year introduction for those new to the sport of hockey. We encourage you to Learn to Play or Pre-Mite Development programs. We look forward to seeing you on the ice during the 2023-24 season!

WELLESLEY KIDS TRAIL DAYS

Wellesley Kids Trails Day 

October 22, 10:30am-Noon


Join the Wellesley Trails Committee in celebrating fall and get your kids out into the woods to have fun and explore nature. Children will look for treasure boxes using letterboxing (written clues). Best for ages 4-12. 

No registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Meet at the Morses Pond beach parking lot.

PARENTS ADVISORY COUNCIL (PAC)

Please join the Wellesley PAC for our monthly coffee on Thursday, November 2 at the home of Christine Mizzi at 16 Suffolk Road from 9-10:30 am. These meetings are great opportunities for families with children getting special education services to connect. Bring a friend or forward to someone that you think may benefit from meeting others within the PAC community. We hope to see you at a coffee soon!
